School Zoo Trip

Last Friday was Korben's School Zoo Day. I almost didn't go because we all had colds, and I was a little intimidated to take the boys alone, but at the last minute I decided just to go and make the most of it since the tickets were free. I thought maybe we would stay there for an hour or so and then be done. Boy was I wrong! We ended up staying for 5 HOURS!

I had thought that taking the boys by myself would be too hard, but it was just the opposite. It was so nice to be able to go at Korben's pace (he stayed at the hippos for over half an hour), and not feel like I was holding anyone up. Mike is gone, so it wasn't like we had to be home for anything either, so as long as the boys weren't throwing tantrums,
I was fine with staying.

We did see Korben's teacher, and some of his schoolmates, but other than that it was just a day with Mommy. I couldn't have asked for better weather, or better boys, or a better zoo day.
It was wonderful!

Here's some pics of our afternoon:

Korben was so excited that he was dancing for the camera (top right)
Logan loved all the animals and was a trooper to sit in the stroller for such a long time.
What would a picture of Logan be without his funny point? I love that picture because he is standing on his tiptoes in the stroller to get a better view of the fish. :0)
I really liked this picture of Korben because of the joy on his face and how he is looking directly at the camera. I was looking at our last trip to the zoo and I think there is only one picture of him where he is looking at me. He has come such a long way since then.
As you can see, Korben was all smiles and loved the whole experience. You can also see that the day was beautiful; which made the animals happy so they were all out in the open and easy to see.
The night before we went to the zoo, I told Korben we would get to see zebra's and he informed me that we would not be seeing zebra's, but giraffe's at the zoo. He kept repeating "giraffe at the zoo" over and over again, but when we got to the giraffe, he was much more interested in the binocular thingy than he was in the animal. I did get him to leave it alone long enough to smile for me though.
This was probably my favorite moment of the whole day. The boys got to go into the goat petting zoo and loved it. Korben brushed down the goats, was counting them, chasing them etc - he was very hands on. However, Logan didn't want to have anything to do with touching the goats, but walked right up and started talking to one. I was laughing so hard that I almost missed the moment (which is also why it is a little out of focus).
The only snag in our trip was the train ride. Korben was so excited and absolutely loved it, but Logan was furious that I wouldn't let him stand up by the window while the train was moving - I'm such a mean mommy. As you can see, he got back at me by throwing himself on the floor and bawling...the train wasn't full, so I just let him have a good cry.

After such a long day at the zoo, Logan was definitely ready to go, but Korben still wanted to stay and was crying "zoo, zoo" even after I put him in his seat. It didn't take long for them to crash though...I was just barely off of the zoo grounds when I took the pictures of them sleeping (Korben couldn't even finish his banana)

We had such a fun time that I'm considering getting a zoo pass so that we can go more often.

That looks like such a fun trip! We went to the zoo on Saturday, with all the rain. Not as much fun. Your boys are so cute. :)

Wow - you are once again, my Hero! You did five hours at the zoo with two little boys and I barely make it through Wal-Mart with mine.

So many fun pictures! I love the contrast of pictures that they are so excited in and then the pictures of them zonked in their carseats. You really wore those boys out! And I'm sure they wore you out too.

Wow, Korben looks like he had soooo much fun. It looks like all of you had a great time. The last time I went to the zoo, Hunter bawled when we got off of the train. That was our worst part too. :)

Sounds like a hoot and that you AND the boys had a nice time at the zoo. It's funny how beat the little ones get with seeing so many different things. :) You're looking good too Kate!
