The New Do

For a while now, I have had the desire to do something drastic with my hair. I didn't really know why because I didn't mind my hair - other than it was in desperate need of a trim. It hit me last week when I was talking to Korben's therapist, that the reason I wanted to do something to my hair was not because it needed to be done, but because it could be done. It was something that I had complete control over.

Lately, I haven't felt like I have had much control over anything. I can't control the silly weather that won't decide if it is spring or not; I can't control Mike's long work hours; I can't control how fast Korben learns, or how often he gets sick, or how long it takes for him to recover; and I haven't had much gumption to control my weight...but I CAN control my hair. So I decided that I was either going to chop it off or change the color. In the end, I chose color.

It's amazing what a 3 hour appointment, a bold new color, and a fresh trim can do for your morale. I feel like now I can take everything on again. It's silly, I know. But I was able to make a decision, follow through, and complete it. It is done; it wasn't wishy washy, it wasn't difficult, it didn't take forever, and most importantly it was entirely within my control. I feel like a whole new woman, with a renewed energy and focus.

So if you are feeling a little down, or just need a little tune up...consider taking control and doing something drastic. :D

When I started reading this blog I made myself wait to scroll down and see the pictures in anticipation of what you might have done to your hair. I was thinking, you know, cut really really short so seeing the color change was a relief. It's fun to see the difference from your pictures on the right of you as a blond and then the new color.

Love it.

Your hair is super cute! And I completely agree with feeling like you can do anything now. I just had my hair done, and I felt the exact same way.

You look great Kate! I know what you mean by the boosted morale to continue with life. It seems like everyone is finally decided to take that step with their hair... maybe because winter is ending and spring is coming... who knows. I LOVE the new color though and it looks so healthy!

I wanna look like you! I wanna be like you!

The hair looks awesome but the Kata inside is so inspiring. You are one of my heroes. I'm glad you found a way to take a little control back - life does seem to suck that away from us.

Very nice! I've never met you so what's your natural hair color. I really like this one, I also liked it blonde. We were watching style by jury last night and they cut and colored this lady's hair and that made all the difference. I agree. A change may have been needed. When Majerle was 2` she would pee her pants when she got into trouble because it was something she `could control. At least you took the easy route of a cut and color instead of the peeing of the pants. :)

It looks really good on you! I'm glad that you were able to "control" that part of your life. :) I love trying new things with my hair, even though I usually don't go too drastic (especially with haircuts). But I, too, like my darker hair...it's actually my natural color. Who'd a thunk? :)
