Today was Korben's first day riding the bus to school. I wasn't too worried about his first time, because each day I had picked him up from school he was begging to ride the bus home. Still, I spent much of the morning preparing him for what to expect (with the Little People bus) just in case. :D
His bus comes between 11:45 and 11:50am. We waited on the front step so Korben would be able to see it coming down the road. It was raining pretty hard, and Korben thought it was funny to run out into the rain and "get wet" and then run back to Mom. He also kept singing the part of Mary had a little lamb that says, "it followed her to school one day, school one day, school one day..." I have never seen Korben wait in anticipation for anything that he couldn't see; it was a real treat to see him so excited.
This is the picture of him excitedly waiting for the bus to come...
still not bothering to look back at Mom...
You can see how stoked he is...
(Each of the kids are buckled up in a booster seat so that they can't escape.)

Oh my gosh! Could he be any cuter??!!
Holy Cow! I can't believe you are already experiencing school stuff with him. He is adorable and looks so happy to be on the bus!
Yay for singing in the rain :)
(So if there was a picture of you, did you tear up walking back to the house without him, even knowing that it is the best thing for him? YOU are awesome!?)
I'm with Kimber. I remember so well the first time I put Kim on the bus--lots of tears-and then the same with Jared.
He looks so excited. How could you not be thrilled for him?
How exciting. He looks like he is so happy!
No tears here. I have waited for 4 months to get him to this point, so I was super excited. Plus, he was so happy, that I couldn't really be sad.
And when I walked into the house and it was silent and I could do whatever I wanted...let's just say I wasn't crying about it. :D
how fun for him...i am so glad they have programs like this. what a cool big kid!!!
Front door service and everything. That is awesome! I'm so glad that he loves school and has adjusted so quickly. And I'm so happy that you have a little time for yourself... you deserve it! You're awesome Kate!
That is a really neatsetup! HOw cool is it to see Korben venturing out "on his own"! Cute pics and great writing too!
How fun for all of you. A new experience for him and some "extra" time for you. Good job mom on helping him be ready for the experience and for enjoying it yourself.
That is SO cute!! Lil mile stones! :o) That just warms my heart!!
I am so happy things went so smoothly and laughed that Korben almost got on the bus without looking back even though I know it probably tugged at your heartstrings. I love the commentary on the photos. Thanks for sharing!
Isn't it amazing how well the Lord knows us and what we need. He gave you four months to wait and want so that when it finally happened you were ready for it. The excitement on Korben's part helped a ton in that too probably. Could have been harder if he'd cried and you'd heard about him struggling without your help.
I was the same way with finally getting Jeremy into school. No hesitation on his part or mine. Just the absolute best thing for everyone.
