Third Time's The Charm

Many of you already know the drama of getting Logan's compression glove, but for journaling purposes, here is the story:

We ordered Logan's glove the first time a few weeks after his surgery (sometime the beginning of October). It took 3 weeks to get here and was WAY to big on him. The therapist realized she had switched two of the measurements, apologized and said she would rush order the next glove. Meanwhile, we kept Logan in his brace to keep the graft covered (this is what all of you saw in November).

The "rush order" made it the week before Christmas (during the horrible storm) and our appointment was cancelled. Mike was able to pick the glove up from a receptionist and we were to see if it fit and call the therapist that ordered it. The glove was still too big, and I was instructed to sew it up myself until we could get in again (after the Christmas break of course). I sewed it up, but Logan was still able to get all of the compression pads out, so it was pretty much useless.

Fast forward to the first week in January. We had another doctor's appointment (and yes, I get to pay for each of these appointments even though all I hear at them is...whoops I made a mistake, we'll see you again in a few weeks), and Logan went back to the brace while we waited for another three weeks for his new glove. I did request that they make the new glove go over all of his fingers so that there was no possible way to get the padding out.

So on the last week of January, we finally got two gloves (they fixed the first one and made a new one) that FIT! WOOHOO! Of course it was only woohoo for a few hours until Logan decided to play in the toilet and I already had to wash one...but at least they fit right? I'm happy to say they are working well and he is finally getting some good compression on his graft. We won't have to go in again until he grows out of the gloves he has...and hopefully when we measure him for his new ones, it will be done right the first time. :D

Glove #2

In other random-things-my-kids-have-to-wear-news...

Korben has flat feet just like his momma, so we were instructed to purchase inserts for his shoes. His feet were measured by the physical therapist and I was given a phone number and a size - Oh, and a little starred note saying that insurance doesn't cover them...

The cute little inserts came last week and I assume they are doing their job. Korben doesn't seem to notice them except when we are putting his shoes on and it is harder to get his feet in. I'm glad they have the foam top, because, speaking from personal experience, the plastic can get cold.

So in the past week, I have added one Michael Jackson looking compression glove and two cute yellow inserts to the list of things I never thought I'd have to purchase for my kids. :D

I am glad you are going through the motions patiently at least. I will hope that the next time you get the inserts and compression glove that it will be done right the first time. Thanks for Sharing Kate!

Crazy. Lots of "new" in your life right now. Good thing those boys are young and resilient.

Sorry about all those costly 'whoops'. No fair/No fun!

Korben's inserts are so cute! I'm so glad the glove thing finally worked out. What a pain! How long does he have to wear it?
