The Funeral

Today we watched the funeral for President Hinkley. First let me say that it was a beautiful funeral and I cried lots. However, the thing that stood out to me was how much laughter there was. There was joking and funny stories, and laughter through the tears. It wasn't disrespectful in any way, if anything it showed the truth of what we have all been taught-that this life is not the end. Of course it is sad, and we will miss him, but he is in a better place with his beloved wife...how can you not be happy about that? I loved hearing the more personal stories of his sense of humor. I hope that I can have a sense of humor about me even in the worst of times.

After the funeral there was a little "Remembrance of President Hinkley" showing while the caravan of cars went to the cemetery. My favorite part was the very end where they played his testimony. In a way it was a farewell from him to us, and what a powerful and beautiful farewell it was.

Thanks for putting up his testimony. I watched the funeral (which was great!) but didn't watch afterwards.

Thanks for posting his testimony. I have to admit I didn't watch his funeral. I was already having a bad weekend and when I turned it on it sounded so depressing so I turned the TV off. I should have kept watching. It probably would have made my weekend a lot better.

Thanks for sharing what I missed though.
